MORE ABOUT THE SERIES

Over the years I have really grown to love participating in cosplay contests, however the more I participate the more I become aware of how daunting and even how inaccessible they can be to newcomers. Since I already run an entire YouTube channel focused on cosplay that offers a variety of cosplay help content, in 2023 I took that content to a new level and created a series about cosplay contests set to run indefinitely. I started this project with an Instagram call for questions and based the first videos on them and the community trends I was seeing at the time. The series has continued still based now upon what I see across what I see in the community, but also what is asked my YouTube comments section.

This series has been a massive undertaking that I often find myself wishing I could dedicate more time to, and I believe it will continue on for years to come. It is a lot of work but it has been very gratifying to answer questions, make information about contests more accessible, and overall to demystify the process for anyone hoping to learn about it.

This video was created in collaboration with Mink the Satyr, a wonderful cosplayer and community member local to the Boston area as well. She is known for her unique Pokémon costumes, a thriving gaming channel based on her adorable V-Tuber on Twitch, and being awarded 2nd Place in the Needlework Category at New York Comic Con's Eastern Championships of Cosplay in 2019 for Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn.

I didn't make this video! This was video was created by Jess Less and in collaboration with her, Casey Renee Cosplay, and Alexandria Layne. While I didn't personally conceptualize it, I thought it offered some wonderful insight into cosplay contests and was very worth adding the series playlist! Although she's extremely capable, I don't know if we'll ever actually see Jess make her cosplay — but even still, check out her work if you're into real life Minecraft crafts, DIY fantasy looks, and/or LARP!

THE PROBLEM WITH COSPLAY CONTESTS

This video is a notable one because it's the one in which I finally released my long-term Unofficial Crown Championships Directory Project to the public. The video itself is a bit of a ride and talks about quite a few different subjects, but it was one that was important for me to make, and I'm glad I got to release that directory project on this stage.
